Starting Point:
Height: 5′-10″
Weight: 240 lbs
About me: While it may come as a shock, the truth is I’m a 36 year old IT manager. I know, I know. “How could an IT professional be overweight?”, you cry. Well, the last 12 years of life sucking work has taught me at least one thing: 8 hours in front of a computer at work and another 5 hours playing TF2 after I get home does NOT lend itself to a healthy body. Sure, I may have the hand-eye coordination of a 12 year old but my body looks and feels like I’m 60.
I’m only 36 for cryin’ out loud. I’ve got a ton of good years ahead of me if I can only whip myself into shape so that I can enjoy them. Plus its always nice to look good for the young hotties…..but that may just be my midlife crisis talking.
Fitness Level: I’ve done 4 triathlons in the last 3 years and I currently practice Kempo karate but I’m still in pathetic physical condition. Like a lot of people, there were many activites I enjoyed in my youth that I’d love to revisit once I get back into shape. There is no reason anyone should settle for being tired, out of shape, and unable to enjoy the things they love.
Challenges I expect: CONSISTENCY - I’ve lost weight in the past but always gained it back. Knowing how great it feels to be in better shape makes being fat that much worse. I need to set progressive goals to keep myself challenged and commited.
Strategy: Diet + Diet + Diet + Diet + Exercise. Actually not so much a diet as a lifestyle change. Fast food should be considered candy: ok as a rare treat, but no one should mistake it for actual nutrition.
